Welcome to the Mountain Park Art Website
I am Mrs. Haviland. I have been teaching at MPE for 14 years and teaching art for 24. I graduated from the University of Georgia, and went to high school just up the street in Alpharetta. I have two sons who went to school here and are now in high school. I also have a furry child named Herschel and yes he is named after the great running back from UGA.
My Schedule
7:50 to 8:40 Fifth Grade
9:05 to 9:50 Second Grade
9:53 to 10:58 First Grade
11:18 to 12:03 Third Grade
12:03 to 12:37 Lunch
12:37 to 1:22 Fourth Grade
1:30 to 2:15 Kindergarten
In art class...
The students will learn about the Elements and Principles of Design. They will get to experience different types of media while we explore a variety of artists, styles and cultures.

In art class...
The students will learn about the Elements and Principles of Design. They will get to experience different types of media while we explore a variety of artists, styles and cultures.
Sketch Book Ideas
Draw a picture of a leaf or a flower.
Study it closely and draw exactly what you see. Add lots of details.
Draw a picture of a person or an animal using shapes and lines
to create an abstract work of art.
Draw a picture of yourself. Use a mirror and try to draw exactly what you see.
Practice using a proportion map if you are in 4th or 5th grade.
Create a work of art inspired by an artist we studied.
Think about what made their art interesting and unique.
Create a work of art that tells a story about your favorite memory.
Include lots of details.
Create a work of art that uses color to express how you are feeling.
How does the color you selected express your feelings?
Why did you select that color?
Observe an object in your home.
Create a work of art that uses value to move from light to dark.
Create a work of art inspired by your environment.
Create your own sketchbook ideas.
Remember turn on your light and have lots of fun!!
